Introducing 'Yeah Brew' Kombucha
What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a powerful probiotic fermented tea drink.
It has been consumed in different areas of the world for many centuries with recent renewed interest in its health-promoting effects as we are gaining more knowledge about the microbes associated with a healthy body. The latest research all seems to suggest that overall health and a strong immune system is increased by consuming probiotics (good gut bacteria).
The ingredients of our Kombucha are black tea, sugar (which is fermented to acid), and the most important ingredient, the microbial culture – the “symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeasts (SCOBY)”. The specific cultures vary but the yeast is generally Saccharomyces (also used in bread and beer making) and the bacterial component is almost always Gluconacetobacter that oxidises any yeast-produced alcohols to acids.
We make our kombucha with the finest local ingredients. The only ingredient that isn't New Zealand made in our kombucha is the tea, which comes from Indonesia.
Come see us at the Otago Farmers Market for a taste or stop by our stockists in Dunedin, or order it online.
