Smoked salt is known to date back to the Viking age, in the 8th and 9th century AD Vikings would evaporate sea water over open wood fires to produce salt.
Our Hickory smoked salt is produced in small batches and cold smoked over 24 hours to give a deep smokey flavour. This salt will lend a fantastic natural grilled BBQ style depth to any meal.
- Use as a fantastic meat rub, a little goes a long way here. Try mixing with a little of our Oak Smoked Paprika for a truly deep smokey steak rub.
- Sprinkle on baked potatoes or hot chips.
- Mix with a little melted butter and lemon zest, add to steamed vegetables or pasta.
